Modification of Poplar Wood via Polyethylene Glycol Impregnation Coupled with Compression

چکیده
Wood permeability and compressibility are affected by cell wall structure chemical composition. These properties can be improved appropriate wood pretreatments. Low-density poplar was converted to a more dense the following steps: First, lignin hemicellulose were removed using mixture of NaOH Na2SO3. Second they impregnated with polyethylene glycol (PEG, mean molecular weight 1200), nano-SiO2, silane coupling agent at atmospheric temperature pressure. Finally, compressed 150 °C. Results showed that tracheid lumens on transverse section almost vanished. Specifically, in cells, especially those compressed, completely filled PEG. In FTIR, asymmetric absorption peaks Si–O–Si 1078–1076 cm−1 clearly observed, which confirms existence bonding between nano-SiO2 wood. The highest melting enthalpy crystallization heat storage capacity modified wood, 20.7 9.8 J/g, respectively. Such phase change capabilities may have potential applications regulating rate room temperature. summary, could utilized as material for construction conserve energy.

Chemical modification of Vibrio vulnificus metalloprotease with activated polyethylene glycol.
Vibrio vulnificus, an opportunistic human pathogen causing septicemia, produces a metalloprotease which is suspected to be a virulence determinant, but which is labile in vivo due to inactivation by alpha-macroglobulin. To obtain a derivative which is stable in vivo, the metalloprotease was modified with activated monomethoxy polyethylene glycol. The modified protease retained full activity to ...
متن کاملStudy of Chemical Modification by Impregnation of Fresh Poplar Log and by Hot-Press Drying Process
In this work, fresh poplar logs were chemically impregnated with a pulsedipping machine. The impregnated timbers were compressed and dried by use of a multilayer hot-press drying kiln. With a compression rate of 28.67%, such an approach not only enhanced the density and mechanical properties of the treated wood, but also influenced the set recovery from the compressive deformation. Extra urea w...
متن کاملModification of polysulfone membranes with polyethylene glycol and lignosulfate: electrical characterization by impedance spectroscopy measurements.
Two sets of composite membranes having an asymmetric sulfonated polysulfone membrane as support layer have been obtained and electrically characterized (membranes SPS-PEG and PA-LIGS). The skin layer of the membrane SPS-PEG contains different percentages of polyethylene glycol in the casting solution (5, 25, 40, and 60 wt%), while lignosulfonate was used for manufacturing PA-LIGS membranes (5, ...
متن کاملModification of polyethylene glycol estimation suitable for use with small mammals.
Concentration of polyethylene glycol (PEG) has been measured satisfactorily using only 0.25 ml of intestinal aspirate (containing approximately 2.5 mg/l PEG). Hyden's turbidimetric assay was modified by reading turbidity at 420 mmu. The addition of extra protein was found to facilitate filtration after protein precipitation.
متن کاملPolyethylene Glycol 3350 With Electrolytes Versus Polyethylene Glycol 4000 for Constipation: A Randomized, Controlled Trial
OBJECTIVE The long-term efficacy and safety of polyethylene glycol (PEG) in constipated children are unknown, and a head-to-head comparison of the different PEG formulations is lacking. We aimed to investigate noninferiority of PEG3350 with electrolytes (PEG3350 + E) compared to PEG4000 without electrolytes (PEG4000). METHODS In this double-blind trial, children aged 0.5 to 16 years with cons...
